The Nursery: after (3-10-12)

I could envision the nursery before we ever got started. Tina and I chose the perfect shade of turquoise for the gender-neutral-vintage-eclectic vibe we wanted. We incorporated pieces from our own childhoods as well as nostalgic items that just felt cozy.

The Je t'aime pillow with the classic Winnie the Pooh scene was purchased through one of our vendors for Green Genes. My mom made the zodiac needlepoint in '73, and I love that it's a family piece that adds just the right amount of vintage quirkiness. I painted the rainbow when I was about 5, and the little shelf holds an assortment of gifts and thrifted goodies. The ferris wheel detail is the base of a lamp that Tina found for an absolute steal! It's also a music box, and the ferris wheel spins when it's wound. The shelf includes my Winnie the Pooh received on my birth-day 7-27-71. The red kitty was Tina's from her childhood; her mom made it. Again there's an assortment of gifts and nostalgic items. Finally the Christening gown that hangs on the wall was my dads from 1947. It shares the wall with these awesome German botanic prints that I framed. We couldn't love this room any more. It just make us happy. We added a lime green shag area rug earlier this week and it completes it beautifully!

I just love this vignette so much!
